The Scientific Committee of the panel discussion titled “Endowment Farms: Opportunities and Challenges” has announced a package of development-oriented recommendations aimed at advancing endowment farms, strengthening their governance frameworks, and diversifying their investment portfolios, in a manner that supports sustainability and maximizes the economic and social impact of agricultural endowments.
At the forefront of the recommendations, the Committee emphasized the importance of enhancing the legislative and regulatory frameworks governing endowment farms and adopting modern financial and administrative governance models that ensure efficiency and transparency. The recommendations also highlighted the need to diversify investment sources within agricultural endowments, strengthen partnerships with both the public and private sectors, and promote innovation, smart technologies, and scientific research in the field of agricultural endowments.
In addition, the recommendations called for the establishment of a national platform bringing together donors (waqifs), trustees (nuzzar), government and private sector representatives, and research centers to foster collaboration and launch joint initiatives. The Committee further underscored the importance of developing national guidelines for managing tourism-oriented endowment farms, including governance mechanisms, marketing strategies, and impact measurement indicators to assess their developmental outcomes.
